Using Metro Transit to visit Fisherman's Cove

You will need to take at least 2 buses (or a bus and a ferry) to get to Fisherman's Cove using Metro Transit. Currently, it costs 2 dollars to travel on the Metro Transit system. You can transfer from bus to bus or from ferry to bus to get to your destination, you will need to ask the bus driver for a transfer slip before you get off the bus or ferry.

1. Catch a bus that will make a stop during it's route at the Dartmouth Sportsplex Bridge Terminal

The following bus routes run regularly Monday to Saturday to the Dartmouth Sportsplex Bridge Terminal with limited service on Sundays and Holidays:

There are of course other buses that run during peak/rush hours or make stops at or near the Dartmouth Sportsplex Bridge Terminal .We would like to recommend that you check the routes and schedules of all Metro Transit buses and ferries to pick a route to Fisherman's Cove that is the most convenient for you.

2. You will need to get off the bus at the Dartmouth Sportsplex Bridge Terminal, don't forget to ask the bus driver for a transfer slip before you get off the bus.

3. Catch the 60 to Eastern Passage to get to Fisherman's Cove, make sure you give the driver your transfer slip.

4. Get off the 60 at the Pleasant Street and Cow Bay Road intersection, you can walk to Fisherman's Cove from this intersection. Ask the bus driver if you're not sure of where to get off.

If you are already in Downtown Halifax, you can also just take one of the ferries across the harbour to either Alderney Landing or Woodside and then catch the 60 on it's way to Eastern Passage. The 60 stops at both ferry terminals on it's way to Eastern Passage.

1. Make your way to the Halifax Ferry Terminal, the terminal is located on the Halifax waterfront just down from The Grand Parade.

2. Catch one of the ferries, it doesn't matter which one as the 60 will stop at both the Alderney and Woodside ferry terminals. Make sure you get a transfer slip from the attendant at the Ferry Terminal before you leave the terminal to wait for the bus.

3. Get on the 60 Eastern Passage bus when it stops at the terminal and give your transfer slip to the driver.

4. Get off the 60 at the Pleasant Street and Cow Bay Road intersection, you can walk to Fisherman's Cove from this intersection. Ask the bus driver if you're not sure of where to get off.

Via MacDonald Bridge

Turn right on to Wyse Road, then turn left onto Alderney Drive, follow Alderney until it meets Portland St., turn right onto Portland.

At the Five Corners intersection turn right onto Pleasant St. (Highway 322). Follow Pleasant past the ESSO Refinery, Shearwater, and the Autoport, and once you come to a fork in the road (Cow Bay - Shore Road junction, at the traffic lights), take the right fork on to Shore Road and you're there.

Via A. Murray MacKay Bridge

Keep on the 111 Highway to Eastern Passage until you come to the end at the lights at Irving Oil, turn left onto Pleasant Street (Highway 322). Follow Pleasant past the ESSO Refinery, Shearwater, and the Autoport, and once you come to a fork in the road (Cow Bay - Shore Road Junction), take the right fork on to Shore Road and you're there.

By Sea

And of course, Fisherman's Cove is accessible by water. Just call Taylor Made Tours at 465-6252 on the Halifax waterfront by the Cable Wharf and enjoy the spectacular harbour scenery as you cross to Eastern Passage.

By Air

(directions from Halifax International Airport)

If you're driving from the Halifax International Airport on Highway 102, head towards Dartmouth on the 118. Take the exit onto the Dartmouth Circumfrential, you will come to the end of the road. Take a left at the lights and drive another 5 kms to Fisherman's Cove.
